Recommending My Favorites

Recently I cataloged the many books I own because I wanted to have an on hand log of the books I have and the ones I needed. As of today I own 157 books. Some I’ve had for 13 years others more recently. It amazes me how many books I’ve owned and lost, mainly through selling them or giving them away. But I’ve decided to be selfish with my books and I will keep them all for as long as I live.
Since I’ve started collecting books I’ve probably owned about 200, which might not seem a lot to anyone that owns more than me. But for someone that is just starting out it’s a lot for me. I started reading for “fun” in the sixth grade, my English teacher Mrs. Rios read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone to us in class. From that moment I was hooked, so I begged my mother to buy the boxed series at the school book fair. Here we are 13 years later, Harry Potter still on my book shelf minus the box, my love for books even stronger.

My ultimate favorite series is by Jean M. Auel
The Clan of The Cave Bear
                          The Valley of the Horses
                          The Mammoth Hunters
                          The Plains of Passage
                          The Shelters of Stone
                          The Land of Painted Caves

The series is set in prehistoric times following Ayla’s life as an earthquake tears her world apart. Her story is so well written you can see her life playing before your eyes. You will be with her as she lives and grows into a woman that changes the world around her. Ayla’s story has everything: romance, adventure and sometimes tragedy.

This series was recommended to me by my mother a long time ago, now I recommend it to anyone that asks. I fell in love with this series and have read it multiple times. Hopefully you will too.

*Currently I’m reading the “Wings in the Night” series by Maggie Shayne.
